Cycling 800kms from Adelaide to Melbourne in 2.5 days

A few years ago a friend of mine said he wanted to ride to Adelaide and since then the idea has been always in the back of my mind...

So last week (1 week before I did this) I decided it was time to give it a crack. I knew with no real specific training this was going to be rough, but I knew it was possible and that was enough!

So in the week leading up to the trip I organised everything I needed to get prior, which was only the following:

  • Bike
  • Backback
  • Powerbank
  • Sleeping bag
  • Tent

Off I went...but I flew to Adelaide and rode back.

Day 1 (Wednesday)

Wednesday morning I flew to Adelaide with my bike and 1 backpack.

  • Flight landed 10:00am
  • Uber straight to the bike shop where I got my tyre fixed (tyre came loose on the flight)
  • Servo stop to get some supplies
  • 190kms later I was in some random town staying in a motel at 11:00pm.

Day 2 (Thursday)

Started riding around 8am in the morning, legs were stiff and my bum sore as could be...

  • Shoulders & wrists were the worse part so far
  • 200km's later I was in Nhil
  • Once again in a motel making 90% of my supplies useless
  • By this point I was quite broken

Day 3 (Friday)

By day 3 I was OVER IT, body was breaking and mentally I was flat as could be.

  • Started riding at 4am
  • Didn't stop till 1pm
  • Back on the bike at 2pm
  • Finished in Caroline Springs around 9pm (Melbourne)

Total of about 746kms
